Riverside Bandshell

Designed by architect Roald Gundersen for the city of LaCrosse, Wisconsin, this bandshell shelters a vibrant annual series of live music concerts, on the banks of the Mississippi River. Monumental in scale, to befit its central place in a lively urban center, Adam fabricated the principal framework for this structure (forked posts, arched rafters, and their braces). Crafted of durable white oak, massive tenons and substantial steel reinforcements are hidden within the precisely scribed shoulders. Adam’s passion for undertaking unusual and demanding work straddling the boundary between structure and sculpture came to the fore in this project.
